The two square miles that comprise Alamo Heights are completely surrounded by the city of San Antonio. While the population is small, as of 2020 was just under 8,000, there is plenty to do in Alamo Heights including shopping, outdoor activities and fun dinning options. The city incorporated in 1922, and sits at the headwaters of the San Antonio river just 4 miles north of downtown San Antonio and 3 miles from the San Antonio International Airport (SAT).
Alamo Heights is also in very close vicinity to For Sam Houston, which is part of the larger Joint Base San Antonio system of bases.

Alamo Heights is home to Olmos Basin Park, which includes multiple sport playing fields, facilities, exercise stations and hiking trails. The Quarry Market is also within city borders and features shopping, dining and events. Further, there is also one of the most historic golf courses in the San Antonio area, the Quarry Golf Course, where residents can test their skill on a beautiful 18-hole course located right in the Quarry.
Within a stone’s throw of Alamo Heights are some of the best parks and outdoor activities. The San Antonio Botanical Garden and Brackenridge golf course and park are nearly touching Alamo Heights.
